Pike Brewing Company Serves Up Beer & Hospitality!
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 9:43 am by HollyErica, Christine, and I once again took on the difficult task of tasting products to preview for SAVOUR customers and headed to the Pike Brewing Company in the Pike Place Market yesterday. Okay, so tasting the many beers brewed by this local brewery wasn’t such a difficult task. In fact, Andy Wallis, Sales Manager, made it very easy to learn as we sampled each of their unique and flavorsome brews with some very tasty pub snacks. After beer tasting we got a tour of the brewery.
We also met and chatted with Charles and Rose Ann Finkel, President and VP of Pike Brewing Company, and Linda Stratton, Marketing and Sales. Charles, Rose Ann, and Linda all took some of their precious time to give us the history of their company and lives. Charles Finkel was involved in the design of local Chateau Ste. Michelle, and the Finkles were also owners of Seattle’s first specialty food store, Truffles, which specialized in artisan foods, wines, and beers (sound familiar?).
At SAVOUR we already carried Pike Brewing Company’s Naughty Nellie, an organic golden English ale that is “crisp and refreshing with mild fruity esters and soft malt character,” and after our tasting expedition we all agreed we also need the Kilt Lifter, a ruby English ale with “layers of rich malt with a subtle smokiness; a little like a single malt.”

Hey- Michael used to work for Truffles back when he was just a ‘pup’. He remembers those days well and it was when he was introduced to the finer foods in life. He also has some funny tales to tell too. We’ll have to share next time we see you. Keep up the good work guys!

How cool that Michael used to work for the Finkles! Of course we’d love to hear the stories!
